Chandigarh: Punjab-based Macro Dairy Ventures Private Ltd has proposed to invest Rs100 crore on setting up a dairy project in Ludhiana, for producing premium quality milk and mozzarella for domestic and export purposes within one year.
“This commercial venture will provide major socio economic stimulus to the area, where it is to be set up by working with the community for the cultivation of fodder and promoting live stock management programme,” Macro Dairy Ventures Private Ltd managing director Jassi Khangura told PTI.
The company has proposed to involve 40 villages in and around Ludhiana for this dairy project.
“We will involve small dairy farmers in this project who will bring their own animals and we will provide them required infrastructure and make them aware of latest technology in animal husbandry programme in order to produce quality milk,” he said.
As part of the project, we will make dairy owners and women earn Rs6,000-7,000 per month so as to increase their earnings, he said.
The company would also set up separate divisions under this project, which involve animal husbandry division, reproduction division, milk processing plant, fodder cultivation and community partnership.
To feed the milch animals, the company would cultivate fodder on 350 acres of land based on contract farming module, he said.
The company also plans to set up a centre for Embryo Transfer Technology for commercial purpose. An effort would also be made with regard to bringing improvement in germ plasm in this project, he said.
