BackAir India upper class fliers can now taste food before ordering
The concept 'table set-up' will be available on select Air India domestic and international routes starting Friday

Mumbai: Starting Friday, Air India Ltd’s first class and business class fliers will be able to view and taste food before ordering, thanks to an option from caterer TajSATS Air Catering Ltd.
Developed by chef Satish Arora, director, food production at TajSATS, the concept called ‘table set-up’ will be available on select domestic and international routes. A TajSATS statement said it will be launched on 11 July, when Air India joins airline network Star Alliance.
On 24 June, a London meeting of the board of Star Alliance, a group of 23 of the world’s biggest airlines, had approved Air India’s entry into the prestigious club.
Air India hopes the Star Alliance membership will help it improve service standards, since Star Alliance has structured processes for passengers in economy class, business class and first class. Airport floor management and in-flight menu are among a number of parameters the airline must meet.
TajSATS is a joint venture between Tata group-controlled Indian Hotels Co. Ltd and Singapore-headquartered SATS Ltd. TajSATS is present at seven locations in India, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai (through associate company, Taj Madras Flight Kitchen), Bangalore, Kolkata, Goa and Amritsar.
After Air India joins the Star Alliance, its passengers will be able to fly on the Star Alliance network of 21,900 daily flights to 1,328 airports in 195 countries and redeem air miles on leading airlines like Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Singapore Airlines Ltd, Air China Ltd, Air Canada, United Airlines Inc., Turkish Airlines and Thai Airways.
