New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India Ltd recorded a growth of 2.4% in domestic sales in January 2011but exports dipped by 43.5% from 23,027 units in January 2010 to 13,010 last month, a company official said on Tuesday.
The firm’s total sales for January 2011 stood at 43,316 units as against 52,628 units in January 2010 registering a decline of 17.7%. The South Korean auto firm sold 30,306 units as against 29,601 units in January 2011 in the domestic market, the official said.
“We expect the domestic market to continue to grow although the rate might come down to low double digit this year,” said Arvind Saxena, director - marketing and sales, Hyundai Motor India Ltd.
The positive note in the domestic front was largely driven by the Next Gen i10 which registered sales of 16,694 units in January this year.
