Voxtel Telecom ties up with Netherlands firm

Premium

Bangalore: Voxtel Telecom Pvt. Ltd, a fully-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong- based Binatone Electronics International Ltd (BEIL), has tied up with a Netherlands-based, large consumer electronic company, to sell global system for mobile communications (GSM) mobile phones in India after April.

Sat Murthi, sales director of BEIL says, “Voxtel (BEIL’s brand in India) will be an exclusive partner with the Netherlands-based company, following strategic tie up effective from April." Murthi did not want to disclose the name of the Netherlands-based company, but added that Voxtel will be the sole distribution and marketing arm for the mobile phones.

The phones will not be branded under Voxtel, but will carry the other company’s brand, which is attempting to re-enter the mobile phone segment in India after a previous failed attempt few years ago. Murthi says that Voxtel’s foray into GSM mobile segment will try to grab market share from the likes of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB, Samsung Group, and the Chinese vendors and is looking at 2% market share by end of March next year.
