New Delhi: The industry will go ahead with its grand plans to promote ‘Brand India´ in the US next month, although it will be deprived of a chance to ride high on the nuclear energy cooperation - which has come under a political cloud at home.
India@60, a week long event, will be launched from September 23 to sell India as a brand before an array of global investors under the aegis of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
The event, to coincide with a session of the UN General Assembly, was billed to be a high point of business relationship between India and the US following the signing of the 123 Agreement on the civil nuclear deal.
“The purpose of the delegation is not only the nuclear deal but showcasing India’s growth story to the world," a CII spokesperson said, adding that the visit of the delegation was on schedule and there was no change in plan.“
The event will be organised by the ministry of overseas Indian affairs and the CII along with the Ministry of Tourism. The commerce ministry will also participate in the event.
The objective was expected to draw investment and cultural interest from non-resident Indians in North America and the Caribbean.
