New Delhi: STMicroelectronics signed an MOU with Dish TV to provide a High Integrated System-On-Chip(SoC) for the latter’s High Definition (HD) digital set top boxes. The move will help Dish TV to target growth through innovation. While Swiss company STMicroelectronis (with net revenues at $8.51 billion in 2009) serves customers across the spectrum of electronics applications with innovative and semiconductor solutions, Dish TV is the largest direct-to-home (DTH) provider in.
The chip in the new set-top boxes provided by Dish TV to consumers will help minimize energy consumption while maintaining system performance. Dish TV recently launched its HD service, Dish Tru HD, delivered via STMicroelectronics to provide access to exceptionally rich video and audio for a superior customer experience.
The MOU has been done with the aim to support Dish TV’s goal to add significantly to its base of 7.5 million subscribers and further expand its footprint wider and deeper across the country.
