New Delhi: “Indian Oil Corp will shut a crude unit at its 120,000 barrels per day (bpd) Haldia refinery for about two months from mid-October to raise the refinery’s capacity by 25%,” a company official said.
“We are raising the annual capacity of Haldia refinery to 7.5 million tonnes (150,000 bpd). Our target is to increase the capacity by the end of this year,” director of refineries B.N. Bankapur said.
He said that a 50,000 bpd crude unit along with associated downstream units would be shut and expanded to 80,000 bpd.
IOC directly owns seven refineries with combined capacity of 947,000 bpd. Haldia is IOC’s only coastal refinery and caters to the demand of eastern India.
