HDFC Bank Q4 net at Rs631 cr, declares 100% dividend

Mumbai: The country’s second largest private sector lender HDFC Bank on Thursday reported a net profit of Rs630.88 crore in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year ended 31 March 2009.
The bank had a net profit of Rs471.11 crore in the March quarter of FY08, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The total income rose to Rs5,385.52 crore during the March quarter, from Rs3,505.52 crore in the year-ago period.
Last year, the bank had merged Centurion Bank of Punjab with itself. Hence, the results for the quarter and fiscal are not comparable with that of the year-ago period, it stated.
The board has declared a 100% dividend for the equity shareholders at the rate of Rs10 a share, for the fiscal year ended 31 March.
For the financial year ended March 2009, HDFC Bank reported a net profit of Rs2,244.95 crore. It had a net profit of Rs1,590.18 crore in FY08.
The bank’s interest income for the quarter stood at Rs4,250.83 crore, while the interest expenditure was at Rs2,398.83 crore.
The total income rose to Rs19,622.88 crore in FY09, from Rs12,398.15 crore in the last fiscal.
