New Delhi: State-owned Bhel on Monday said it has bagged a contract for manufacturing and supplying generator transformers for the 1,980 MW Tirora Thermal Power Project of Adani Power Maharashtra Ltd.
“Bhel has won a contract for the manufacture and supply of generator transformers for the 1,980 MW (3x660 MW) Tirora Thermal Power Project of Adani Power Maharashtra Limited (APML),” a company release said.
Valued at Rs81 crore, the order envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply and installation of generator transformers, which will be manufactured at the company’s Bhopal plant.
The supplies will commence in December 2010 and the contract will be completed by December 2011, it said.
This is the second order that Bhel has won for generator transformers for 660 MW supercritical sets. In February, the company had bagged an order from NTPC for the supply of 7 generator transformers for the latter’s its Barh Thermal Power Project.
Bhel has supplied more than 4,000 transformers for transmission and distribution networks in the country.
On the export front, the company has supplied transformers to more than 20 countries, including Greece, Egypt, Libya, Oman, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Zambia.
