New Delhi: The tenders floated by state-owned telecom services provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) in May 2008 for providing 93 million lines based on global system for mobile communications technology are likely to be split among Sweden’s Telefon AB LM Ericsson, China’s Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd and the Alcatel-ITI joint venture, a BSNL official said on Monday.
The tenders, one each for east, west, north and south zones, comprise 74.94 million 2G (second-generation) lines and 18.06 million 3G (third-generation) lines. While Ericsson is likely to get orders for north and east zones, Huawei may get the south zone, and Alcatel-ITI west.
