New Delhi: State-run power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals on Monday said it has won a Rs1,175- crore contract for setting up a 500 MW thermal power plant at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.
“Bhel has bagged an order worth Rs1,175 crore for setting up a 500 MW thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh,” a company statement said.
The order has been placed by Jaypee Group company Bina Power Company Ltd. Bhel would install two units of 250 MW each for the project which is slated for synchronization during the 11th-Plan Period (2007-12).
The company plans to invest Rs4,200 crore to enhance its capacity from 10,000 MW to 15,000 MW in two years.
Bhel’s scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of boilers, turbines and associated auxiliaries.
Bhel also plans to invest about Rs10,000 crore for new ventures in the coming years. For achieving this target, its production units at Tiruchirappaly, Bhopal, Haridwar, Jhansi and Hyderabad are in the process of modernisation and expansion.
