Seoul: Doosan Infractore Co., South Korea’s largest construction equipment maker, said it plans to build a factory in India to make excavators.
The plant, scheduled for completion by the end of 2008, will have an annual output capacity of 3,000 excavators, Jeong Kyong O, a spokesman for Incheon, Korea-based Doosan, said over a phone on 22 May. Jeong said the company hasn’t decided on the plant’s specific venue or the investment amount.
India’s excavator market may increase fivefold by 2015 to 33,000 units a year, from 7,000 units now, according to estimates by Doosan, which has production facilities in China, Belgium and Korea.
