New Delhi: NDTV Worldwide, the consulting division of media company New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV Ltd) on Monday announced its partnership with Bangladesh based Beximco Group for the launch of its 24 hour Bangla news channel in Bangladesh.
The channel, Independent Television, launched by the Beximco Group through its media subsidiary, Independent Television Ltd, is scheduled to be launched by early September 2010.
“We do not have any equity stake in the new channel but will have a managerial and consultant role in the channel. The controls of the channel will be with Beximco ” Shyatto Raha, Chief Executive Officer, NDTV Worldwide. “However, the details on content sharing and co-branding have not been discussed as yet,” he added.
According to the terms of the agreement NDTV will assist the Beximco Group with the overall operational and business management of the channel.
NDTV at present has presence in Malaysia through a joint venture with the Stro Group for its channek Astro Awani. Due to financial contraints resultant of the economic slowdown NDTV Worlwide had to withdraw its channels in Indonesia and UAE.
“We are still looking at all emerging markets inclusing Indonesia, other countrie of Asia and the middle-eastern market, so you will hear more about our new ventures in the coming months,” said Raha.
