Mercedes-Benz unveils luxury cars in India

New Delhi: This one’s for you if you have the moolah and believe the last word in luxury comes at a premium. Mercedes-Benz, that signature auto brand anywhere on this planet, introduced a brand new range of power-packed, yet quiet set of wheels in the Indian market on 6 April.
The German car major showcased its new top-of-the range model — the S-Class diesel and the masterpiece among luxury coupes — the CL-Class at a brand showcased at a launch function in the city.
The brands featured a complete range of Mercedes-Benz cars in India, such as the locally built S-Class, E-Class, and C-Class machines, and the built-up imported range: the SLK-Class, CLS-Class and M-Class.
“With this launch, what we are essentially trying to do is to share our enthusiasm about growth and direction of the company. We are committed to offering our customers the latest products in the least possible time,” said Dr Wilfried Aulbur, managing director and CEO of DaimlerChrysler India.
Built using intelligent technology, pioneering safety features and exemplary comfort, the S320Cdi L diesel is priced at Rs72.73 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The new model includes a dozen of technical innovations that ranges from Brake Assist PLUS, with radar sensors to dynamic multicontour seats with an extended massage function.
The night view assistance with the latest infra-red technology, the improved cockpit management and data system, the anticipatory pre-safe occupant protection and the active body control suspension system are some unique features that this model can boasts of. The 5.5-litre eight-cylinder generates 285 kw/388 hp and is among the most powerful engines.
The brand, which is so synonymous with class and comfort in cars, uses state-of-the-art technology to take luxury to virgin heights. High-comfort heated seats with active ventilation, multicontour seats (front and rear) and dynamic multicontour seats (front) are available as optional equipment while the electrically adjustable 12-way front seats with lumbar supports are standard equipment.
The large Mercedes coupés (CL-Class 500 and CL-Class 600) have been the epitome of elegance and exclusivity in automotive engineering for many decades. Familiar Mercedes characteristics are reinterpreted and incorporated into the design concept to form a harmonious composition of tradition and modernity. They set standards in design and equipment, combining outstanding safety with the greatest comfort and a superior driving experience.
The CL 600, an interior in passion leather, specially selected poplar wood trim and an Alcantara roof liner with quilted seams contribute to a luxurious, first-class atmosphere. The standard specification includes dynamic multicontour seats with massage function and seat ventilation. It is priced at Rs165.75 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
An ultra-modern biturbo twelve-cylinder engine under the bonnet of the new CL 600 generates its impressive power. The new CL 600 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The V12 engine of this variety consumes 0.4 litres less fuel than the previous CL 600 per 100 km.
The eight-cylinder powerful engine in the CL 500 delivers 285 kW/388 hp. It can accelerate from zero to 100 km an hour in 5.4 seconds flat. This variant of road ruler is priced at Rs119.74 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
“The new CL-Class is yet another masterpiece from Mercedes-Benz. This luxury coupe points the way into the future with its innovative technology, its design is a protagonist for a new aesthetic appearance, a new Mercedes style,” said Aulbur.
