Mumbai: Passengers flying on budget carrier SpiceJet on Saturday were in for a pleasant surprise, as each one of them was given four complimentary return tickets. Ocassion - the airline’s fourth anniversary.
As the passengers boarded SpiceJet flights across the country, each one of them was greeted with the airline’s customary hospitality and given a kit containing these complimentary tickets as well as hotel accommodation.
The freebies to the passengers was to mark the Gurgaon-based airline’s fourth anniversary of launch and to get closer to its customers, a SpiceJet statement said.
“This is our sincere gesture of gratitude to our guests. We are delighted to celebrate this landmark with them,” Spicejet chief executive officer Sanjay Aggarwal said.
The guests can use the free tickets to fly to any destination on the airline’s network. Hotel accommodation has been added to provide added comfort to its customers, he said.
The budget airline, which commenced operations with four flights and an equal number of destinations four years ago, today operates 125 flights across 18 airports in the country.
The airline claims to have ferried 14 million passengers since its launch.
“While times are challenging for the industry, our market share has grown from 7.9% in September last year to 12% now,“ Aggarwal said.
SpiceJet carried the maximum number of passengers to and out of Delhi in consecutive months, he said.
