Singapore: India’s state-run refiner Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) has awarded a rare term contract to buy 300,000 tonnes of kerosene for January to December supply 2008, industry sources said on Wednesday.
“BPCL has been buying kerosene on a spot basis and this is the first time they are locking in under a term contract. No specific reasons,” said an industry source from Mumbai.
The cargoes were bought from Emirates National Oil Co (ENOC) at a premium of $4 a barrel to Middle East spot jet-kerosene quotes, on a cost-and-freight Mumbai basis, sources said.
