Mumbai: Krishnapatnam Port Co. Ltd on Thursday started operating its container terminal, which can handle 1.2 million standard containers a year, extendable to about 6 million.
Company executives said the Bengal Tiger Line’s feeder shipping service will serve Krishnapatnam port every fortnight, starting 27 September.
The terminal recently installed five cranes that are capable of lifting 65 tonnes each, the company said in a statement.
The terminal will have two berths of 650m and a channel depth of 13.5m so large vessels capable of carrying up to 8,000 containers can dock.
Krishnapatnam port is promoted by the Hyderabad-based CVR Group.
