Jet Airways elevates Jayaraj Shanmugam as chief commercial officer
Jayaraj Shanmugam will be based in Mumbai and report to the Jet Airways CEO
Mumbai: Jet Airways (India) Ltd has elevated Jayaraj Shanmugam as its new chief commercial officer, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. He joined the Mumbai-based airline in mid-2015 as senior vice president of products and services.
Shanmugam will be based in Mumbai and report to the CEO. In his new role, Shanmugam will be leading Jet Airways’ commercial teams to maximize revenue streams and use its market reach, people capabilities and brand appeal to improve services and make them more efficient, the company said.
His responsibilities will cover areas of product enhancement, guest services, passenger and cargo sales, marketing as well as corporate communications. He will also oversee other critical functions such as airport and in-flight services, catering, revenue management, cabin crew and e-commerce.
Shanmugam,53, has previously worked at Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways and Maxis Bhd.
A Singapore national by birth, Shanmugam has an MBA (marketing) from the Nanyang Business School and graduated with an honours degree in political science from the National University of Singapore (NUS).
“He has been a key member of our executive management committee and brings a wealth of experience pertaining to global best practices and service orientation, together with his contemporary, out-of-the box approach to manage our growing operations.
