New Delhi: Power equipment maker Bhel on Monday said it is setting up a manufacturing unit at Tirumayam in Tamil Nadu at an investment of Rs250 crore, which would produce 25,000 million tonnes of boiler components annually.
“Bhel is setting up a manufacturing facility at Tirumayam in Tamil Nadu that would initially produce 25,000 million tonnes of boiler components annually, at an investment of Rs250 crore,” a company statement on Monday said.
The plant is expected to provide direct employment to about 750 people and indirect employment to about 3,000 and achieve an annual turnover of about Rs500 crore, it said.
The company is planning to augment power equipment manufacturing capacity from 10,000MW to 15,000 MW on a yearly basis by December 2009.
The firm, which plans to invest about Rs1,000 crore for developing locomotive manufacturing facility, is in talks with Siemens, Alstom and Bombardier for creating electric locomotive manufacturing facility at Madhepura in Bihar for production of around 150 units annually.
