Chandigarh: Peru-based company has expressed interest in setting up a Soya-based soft drink plant in Punjab with initial investment of $10 million under mega project scheme.
“The company-Peru San Miquel Del will also process various fruits to manufacture soft drinks for domestic as well as export consumption,” said Acting Ambassador of Republic of Peru to India, Carlos A Irgoyen Farno, while holding a meeting with Punjab Chief Secretary, R I Singh here today.
An ambassador along with a delegation of entrepreneurs from Peru was on a visit to Punjab to explore investment opportunities in the state.
Stating that Peru was keen to avail various opportunities to increase trade cooperation with Punjab, various companies from Peru expressed keen interest in investing in agro-processing, retail and reality sectors.
The Chief Secretary, Punjab informed the Ambassador that Punjab Government had notified a new policy of mega projects to encourage investment in Punjab under which a series of benefits were offered to investors.
He said that Punjab government was encouraging investment in agro-processing, IT, small engineering, bio-technology, garment industry.
