New Delhi: Hero Honda Motors, India’s largest motorcycle maker, said its sales in December jumped a third and helped lift the total for 2010 to a record of more than 5 million units.
The company, which also makes scooters, said December sales reached 501,111 units. Full year sales grew 16.4%, it said in a statement late on Sunday.
For the three months ended December, it sold about 1.4 million units, 29% higher than the year-ago quarter.
Hero Honda is a joint venture between the Hero group and Japan’s Honda Motor Co. In December, Hero group said it would buy Honda’s 26% stake in the JV.
