New Delhi: Aiming to strengthen foothold in the burgeoning apparel and accessories market in India, clothing brand Benetton is mulling to bring its sportswear label in the country, besides introducing a range of accessories.
Benetton has a strong presence in the apparel segment for women, men and children and is toying with the idea of launching in the country ‘Playlife,´ the sporting label owned by the group, for which talks are at a very nascent stage currently, sources said.
The company is planning to scale up the number of outlets in India to 150 by the end of this year from the current 130 points of sale, besides rolling out its eyewear range in 2008, Benetton India Managing Director Sanjeev Mohanty told PTI on the sidelines of the retail summit here.
He, however, did not divulge any financial details of the expansion plan. “We have plans to get into the eyewear and footwear segment. The eyewear range would be rolled out with our spring -summer collection in 2008,” Mohanty said.
