Shell still in talks with Essar for 2 refineries

London: Royal Dutch Shell said on Friday it remained in non-exclusive talks with Essar for the Indian company to buy two refineries in Europe, having announced the sale of its Heide site to a private equity fund.
“Shell has an ongoing divestment programme and we are in negotiations to sell Shell Stanlow in the UK and Harbarg in Germany,” a Shell spokesman said.
“We are in a non-exclusive talk with Essar for the potential sales of Stanlow and Harburg.”
Essar had been talks with Shell to buy these three refineries altogether, but it lost the exclusivity.
Eariler on Friday, UK family-owned private equity fund Klesch & Co said on Friday it had agreed to buy the Heide refinery.
