Dish TV reports Rs16 crore loss in June quarter

Net sales declined 1% to Rs638.93 crore during the quarter from Rs645.49 crore a year earlier

New Delhi: Dish TV India Ltd, the direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television distributor run by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, on Tuesday reported a net loss of Rs16 crore for the quarter ended 30 June on account of higher expenses. The company had reported a net profit of Rs31 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Net sales declined 1% to Rs638.93 crore during the quarter from Rs645.49 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a filing to the BSE.

The DTH provider added 300,000 subscribers on a net basis during the quarter, taking the company’s total subscriber base to 11.7 million.

“The company delivered in line with expectations during the first quarter and reclaimed its position as the fastest growing DTH player in the country," said Subhash Chandra, chairman, Dish TV India.

Standalone subscription revenue stood at Rs588.6 crore for the quarter while total operating revenue was at Rs640.7 crore. Average revenue per user (ARPU) for the three months was Rs170.
