Mumbai: Jyothy Laboratories Ltd, the maker of Ujala liquid fabric whitener, on Monday reported 31.58% rise in profit for the quarter ended 31 March.
The fourth quarter profit for the company stood at ₹ 35.61 crore as compared with ₹ 27.06 crore a year ago.
Consolidated net sales rose 12.39% to ₹ 445.21 crore from ₹ 396.12 crore a year ago.
A Bloomberg consensus of 14 analysts had estimated a net profit of ₹ 43.46 crore and revenue of ₹ 429.10 crore.
Its soaps and detergent segment, which includes the Ujala, Pril and Margo brands, grew 10.12%, while the home care segment—with products such as Maxo mosquito repellent—grew 18.73%.
“FY16 has been a good year for us. Our numbers for the year show a marked improvement with a significant gain in marketshare for powerbrands across categories," said M.P. Ramachandran, chairman and managing director of Jyothy Laboratories in statement to the BSE.
Jyothy Laboratories’ stock closed 3.15% down at ₹ 298.20 on the BSE, while India’s benchmark index Sensex was up 0.28% at 25,230.36 points.
