Mumbai: JSW Energy Ltd, the power generating arm of the JSW Group, posted a profit of Rs.311 crore in the fiscal third quarter from a loss of Rs.83 crore in the year earlier.
Total income from operations increased 34% to Rs.2,365 crore in the three months ended 31 December.
“The operational performance during the quarter saw improvement on the back of improved operations of the Barmer unit while the Vijayanagar and Ratnagiri plants continued to maintain high availability,” JSW Energy said in a statement. The firm achieved its highest quarterly net generation of 4,770 MUs (million units) during the quarter. One MU is equal to a gigawatt-hour.
The production at its plants in Barmer (Rajasthan), Vijayanagar (Karnataka) and Ratnagiri (Maharashtra) saw an increase. Overall, the plant load factor, a measure of average capacity utilization, jumped to 91.34% in the third quarter from 82.3% in the year earlier.
