Hind Motors strike ends
New Delhi: An industrial dispute that some feared might permanently shut down production of the iconic Ambassador car has ended, the company announced on Thursday. The dispute had thrown a spanner in the 50th birthday celebrations of the Ambassador.
“Subsequent to the agreement signed yesterday (Wednesday) between the workers’ unions and HM Management, work resumed today at the Uttarpara plant of Hindustan Motors," the company said. “Production of the car has resumed and is expected to gather full steam in the next 48 hours," the company said.
The firm said it would review the suspension of about 30 workers “with a lenient view." The suspensions had been a major issue in the row.
