Ticker Plant closes news services
Mumbai: TickerPlant Ltd, a Financial Technologies group company, has shut its news operations, leaving at least 50 financial journalists in Mumbai and New Delhi stranded. Launched in 2007 as an information-vending platform, Ticker hired senior journalists and built up news bureaus in the second half of 2009.
“The journalists have been given two months notice. The news operations will be discontinued from March," a group official said on the condition of anonymity. He added that the news content has been outsourced DowJones Newswires, a NewsCorp entity. A few journalists covering money markets may be retained as Dow does not provide this service, the official added.
“Ticker plant has undertaken an organization re-structuring to strengthen the product offering. As a part of this exercise, we are restructuring the news desk only," Sriram K, vice president- marketing, Ticker Plant Ltd said in an e-mail statement.
