Mumbai: South African Airways, the national carrier of South Africa, will add another daily flight to the four that it currently has between Mumbai and Johannesburg from 16 June, with a sixth to start 21 August, the airline said in a release Thursday. The move comes as Jet Airways (India) Ltd stopped its flights between the cities effective 12 June, citing profitability concerns, making South African the only carrier that directly connects the two countries.
South Africa last year saw a 26.2% increase in Indian visitors from the previous year, with 90,367 travelling to the country, the statement said.
