TCS to invest Rs20 cr in setting up R&D centre in IIIT-Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd is investing ₹ 20 crore to establish a research and development centre in intelligent systems at International Institute of Information Technology-Hyderabad (IIIT-Hyderabad).
Named after Faqir Chand Kohli, the founding chief executive officer of TCS, India’s biggest information technology services firm, the centre will focus on natural language processing, robotics and cognitive sciences.
These fields of computing science are expected to be the brain behind automation that’s set to transform many sectors from automotive to healthcare. Companies are building driverless cars that use a range of technologies based on automation and Internet of Technology.
“Every industry is going to get redefined, re-imagined from artificial intelligence innovation," N. Chandrasekaran, chief executive and managing director of TCS, said at an event to mark the ceremonial laying of foundation stone.
“Machine learning and artificial intelligence can have lasting impact on Indian society," Cyrus P. Mistry, group chairman of Tata Sons Ltd said in his remarks.
