Healthcare | Production at 3 vaccine units to restart
New Delhi: The Union health ministry has issued orders revoking the suspension of manufacturing at the three public sector vaccine units—Central Research Institute, Kasauli; Pasteur Institute of India, Coonoor and BCG Vaccine Lab, Chennai. Manufacturing at the three units had been suspended by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) in January 2008 for non-compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP).
Mint had reported last year that the government may revoke the suspension orders at the three units, as well as restart Kasauli. On Tuesday, the ministry issued the order, saying that the production line at Kasauli must be made “fully compliant with GMP standards within three years from the date of issue of this order".
