Mumbai: Siemens India Ltd, the local unit of Europe’s biggest engineering company, said profit more than doubled in the three months ended 30 September. Net income climbed to Rs309 crore in the fourth quarter from Rs137 crore a year earlier, the Mumbai-based company said in a release to the National Stock Exchange. Sales in the period gained 47% to Rs2,190 crore from Rs1,490 crore, the company said.
Plan panel concerned about small retailers
New Delhi: A top official of the Planning Commission says the agency is “concerned” by the rapid growth of modern retailing in the country and it thinks the development will come at the expense of small shopkeepers.
“It should not happen at the expense of the small and unorganized groups,” Syeda Hameed, member of the commission, said. “You can’t take away the livelihood from the rehri-patri walas (roadside vendors)… We want this (the growth of modern retailers) to happen without hurting people.”
US approves 5 products of Aurobindo Pharma
Mumbai: Drug maker Aurobindo Pharma Ltd said on Thursday it has received approvals for five products from the US Food and Drug Administration.
Products approved include finasteride tablets USP and glyburide and metformin hydrochloride tablets, it said in a statement.
