Rates of 192 drugs fixed, 35 others revised
New Delhi: Drug price regulator, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the prices of 192 medicines and revised the prices of 35 others, in an order dated 28 March. The order that cuts across ointments, syrups, vials and capsules of antibiotics, anti-infectives and human insulin among others, has come a day after it capped prices of 1,009 drugs.
The latest order has revised the prices 35 pack sizes of Reckitt Benckiser (India Limited)’s antiseptic liquid Dettol and human insulin brands sold by Wockhardt Ltd, Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., Cadila Healthcare Ltd and Biocon Ltd. In almost half the drugs, NPPA has increased the ceiling prices, with the hike ranging from under a rupee to as high as almost Rs800.
