Mumbai: Vliv Inc., a mobile video start-up with offices in the US, New Delhi and Bengaluru, announced on Friday that it has raised funding from Mumbai Angels, a network of investors.
Investors include Sarv Sarvanan, senior vice-president of EMC Corp; Manish Dalal, vice-president, Asia, Verisign Inc.; Pari Natarajan, chief executive officer, Zinnov Llc, and a few others.
“Vliv will be first of many global consumer focused start-ups to come from India. Vliv is building a strong mobile video platform that will allow them to rapidly release interesting global consumer video apps," Natarajan said in a statement.
Vliv was founded in 2012 by former Yahoo Inc. employees Ashish Chadha and Vaibhav Suri. The company launched its first video editing application Vliv Videofun in September 2013. According to a company statement, Videofun has users in more than 32 countries, with majority being youngsters. To capitalize on its growing popularity with teenagers, the start-up plans to go global and will soon launch its next video app simultaneously in more than 15 international languages.
