BackEros, Endemol India ink pact to co-produce 3 films for `100 cr
Eros will collaborate with Endemol to co-produce three feature films, undertake original programming for television

Mumbai: Eros International Media on Tuesday said it has formed a strategic alliance with the Indian arm of Dutch entertainment firm, Endemol, to co-produce three feature films and undertake original programming for television.
The collaboration has earmarked ₹ 100 crore to fund these three productions, Eros said in a filing to the BSE. “As a part of the three-film deal, Eros International and Endemol India will be co-producing an action comedy, which will be a remake of a South Indian blockbuster, an original romantic comedy (will go on floors later this year) and a comic caper," it added.
Eros, which recently forayed into premium television with HBO, will collaborate with Endemol on TV formats and original programming for television, the filing said. Many of Eros-owned film intellectual property rights (IPR) will be considered for adaptation for the television format and vice versa for Endemol owned IPR. “We will create original high quality compelling television content as digitization takes Indian television into the premium subscription phase," Eros International media executive director Jyoti Deshpande said.
Endemol India is the producer of reality shows like Bigg Boss and Fear Factor-Khatron Ke Khiladi, while Eros International has a rich library of films like English Vinglish, Vicky Donor and some older films. “After successfully producing content for some of the biggest format shows in the country, we are expanding our portfolio to films...Through this association, we look forward to making a mark on the big screen as well," Endemol India CEO Deepak Dhar said. Endemol India is a 51:49 joint venture between Endemol BV and CA Media (the Asian investment arm of The Chernin Group).
