Celkon launches cheapest Kitkat smartphone on Snapdeal
The Campus A35K, priced at Rs2,999, has been touted as the cheapest phone running the latest Android version
New Delhi: Budget-handset maker Celkon Impex Pvt. Ltd on Monday launched its “Campus A35K" smartphone in the country for ₹ 2,999 in an exclusive partnership with online marketplace Snapdeal.com.
Touted as the cheapest smartphone powered by Kitkat, the latest version of Google Inc.’s Android mobile operating system, the handset has dual SIM slots and is powered by a 1GHz processor with 256MB of RAM, it said in a statement.
With a 3.5-inch display, the Campus A35K sports a 3.2-megapixel rear camera, 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera and 512MB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 32 GB). The device supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, and A-GPS along with 3G connectivity.
While the market is flooded with devices based on Jelly Bean, the previous generation of Android OS, handset makers are now focusing on launching devices based on the latest release.
Handsets like LG Electronics Inc.’s Nexus 5, Motorola Inc.’s Moto X and Moto G, Karbonn Mobiles India Pvt. Ltd’s Titanium Hexa and LAVA International Ltd’s Iris X1 are based on Kitkat.
Another home-grown firm, Intex Technologies (India) Ltd, has also announced that it will launch an Android-powered device priced under ₹ 10,000.
