New Delhi: Mobissimo Inc., a leading travel search engine, and BusinessJet Class, the first marketing and automated distribution system for private charter jets, has launched a search engine, where consumers will be able to search for discounted private jet rates directly on Mobissimo.com. In January, BusinessJet Class had launched a direct-to-consumer version of its travel agent website called PrivateJetSpecialist.com, which gives consumers everything they need for researching, planning, and booking private charters online. “Private air travel solutions complement scheduled airline service in many unique ways,” said Peter S. Shin, vice-president, business development, Mobissimo. Private aircraft reach far more destinations, with more departure options than commercial airlines, and apparently, private jet rates are not much higher than first-class travel.
Mumbai: Omnicom, one of the world’s top advertising and marketing group, plans to launch OMD, its media buying arm, in India. The independent media arm of the group is expected to take off in March this year, and will be headed by Jasmin Sorabji, the former managing director of Starcom.
Omnicom had been looking at various options of boosting its presence in India for quite some time. Omnicom Group vice-chairman and Asia-Pacific CEO, Michael Birkin, had visited India in 2005, and rumours have been rife that the agency was looking at viable acquisitions to push its operations here. In July last year, it had acquired Gotocustomer services, an independent local marketing outfit. The agency also appointed Keki Dadiseth as its non-executive chairman.
Mumbai: Ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has signed a business partnership with Kishore Biyani’s Future Group (FG) and Manipal Health Services for the launch of a wide range of products, like health supplements, sports goods, fitness equipment and lifestyle accessories. Under the agreement, Tendulkar, besides endorsing a range of the aforesaid products, will also have a stake in the joint venture (JV). The JV, which initially had only two partners—FG and the Manipal Group—will sell its products under the brand name S Drive and Sach. The products are likely to be launched around the World Cup.
