Mumbai: Even as the deadlock between multiplex owners and film producers continues over a disagreement on how to share box office revenues, multiplex operators have decided to get into the distribution business. “We are setting up a corpus of funds to buy movies. We’ve analysed 20-25 ready movies which are not of the four-five studios that are part of the united forum. These are ready for release and we talking to their producers,” said Shravan Shroff, managing director, Fame India Ltd, which runs a chain of multiple-screen cinema halls.
The latest move by multiplex owners could see film releases by smaller producers being shown in the multiplexes.
