New Delhi:More designers and the usual quota of ramp shows will mark the upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in the national capital from 21-26 March.
“There are around 87 designers who would be showcasing their collections. Not all of them are ramp shows though. There would be around 56 ramp shows,” Fashion Design Council of India president Rathi Vinay Jha said.
Familiar names like Ritu Kumar, Rohit Bal and Tarun Tahiliani would feature in the premier fashion event, while seven new designers would be making their debut with their Autumn-Winter collection, Jha said.
More than 75 buyers would be coming to the Fashion Week and list may include names like Saks Fifth Avenue, Maria Luisa and Harrods.
“Interest in the India Fashion Week is increasing from both designers and buyers,” Jha said.
Around 120 stalls will be set up during the fashion week, out of which there would be some for accessories and jewellery designers at the event to be held in the capital’s Hotel Ashoka.
“The Fashion Week is growing slowly. This year we have had more designers evincing interest, more stalls and newer models,” Jha said.
He refuted the rumours that FDCI is stopping those fashion designers, who have been regulars in Lakme Fashion Week, from showcasing their collection in Wills Lifestyle.
