New Delhi: Delhi Daredevils entered the Indian Premier League with a bowling line-up that was most appropriate for T20. They showed a strong batting side and claimed a nine-wicket win over Team Hyderabad on Tuesday. Virender Sehwag did not let go of the batting momentum after the loss of Gautam Gambhir rather early during the day.
He was comfortable at the wicket soaking in the adulation and cheering of the crowd as he took on Andrew Symonds, gleaning 30 runs from the 13th over of the innings with a four, six, four, six, four and six. Scoring 100 runs for the second in 55 deliveries, he saw the match through with an unbeaten 94 in just 41 deliveries. The total that he notched up in what seemed like a jiffy had 10 boundaries and six sixes.
Shikhar Dhawan gave him ample support. The duo put together a sturdy 112 run partnership for the second wicket and remained unbeataben on 25. The Daredevils finished the match at 143 for one.
Team Hyderabad’s bowlers could not dislodge the batsmen, who seemed firmly entrenched. The match, according to avid cricket enthusiasts had some good moments, both on the batting and bowling sides.
