Ad agency Ogilvy & Mather Pvt. Ltd has put an end to several weeks of suspense over whether Abhijit Avasthi would be elevated to the post of national creative director. It has promoted Avasthi, Rajiv Rao, Sumanto Chattopadhyay and Anup Chitnis, who will now be
executive creative directors for South Asia. In addition to their current responsibilities in India, Avasthi and Rao will supervise the work in Ogilvy Pakistan, while Chattopadhyay and Chitnis will look after the creative product for Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Ashish Khazanchi, executive creative director, Rediffusion, is rumoured to be penning a song for a proposed Red Ice venture ‘Let’s Dance’. Khazanchi could not be reached for comment.
Rahul Shaw, vice-president, Star has quit. His exit was confirmed by the Star spokesperson. Shaw is said to be joining NDTV’s Good Times as head of ad sales.
Sun TV, through its subsidiary South Asia FM Ltd (SAFL), has picked up a 48.9% ‘beneficial interest’ in Red FM by acquiring equity of the holding company of Red FM at par. Red FM will now handle ad sales for Sun’s radio stations via SAFL. Chief executive officer Abraham Thomas is likely to get a larger portfolio, say sources.
INX Network is going ahead with plans to launch three channels in India. It has signed up Ideal Systems to provide systems design and integration services for the news business, according to Vynsley Fernandes, group director, network operations.
