Karachi: Four Pakistani cricketers will travel to South Africa next month to meet the Indian Premier League officials to sort out issues related to non-payment of dues to the players whose contracts were terminated by their franchises this year.

The management company representing the players confirmed that Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul and Misbah-ul-Haq would fly out to South Africa on 8 May after completing the one-day series against Australia in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

“The purpose is to meet with IPL officials and find out the status of their contracts and also to resolve the payment disputes," an official of the company said.

He said the players would talk to the IPL organisers and also meet representatives of their respective franchises.

“The point is that neither the IPL nor the franchises have bothered to give anything in writing to the contracted players explaining if their contracts are terminated or suspended and on what grounds," the official said.

“The players want their status with the IPL clarified," he added.

The IPL dumped the Pakistani players after the Pakistan government advised the players not to travel to India for the IPL due to security reasons. Later the tournament was shifted to South Africa.
