Goafest , organized as a conclave-cum-seminar-cum-awards-event by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI), was just that: a fest that had written beach parties and a rain dance into its script;
one that featured speakers such as Trevor Beattie (him of the FCUK and Wonderbra ads fame),
Donald Gunn (of the Gunn Report), and Maureen Johnson of WPP’s retail practice,
The Store; and one that ended with an awards ceremony and a Vegas-style dance. For the record, Rediffusion DY&R won 36 medals (3 gold, 14 silver and 19 bronze); Grey Worldwide, 27 (1 gold, 10 silver and 16 bronze); McCann Erickson, 20,
including the Grand Prix (for HappyDent) for television ads (plus 1 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze); and Leo Burnett, 24 (6 silver and 18 bronze). And JWT India won the Grand Prix for the outdoor category for its campaign for Kurkure.
