India’s hopes for a good medal haul in archery got a massive boost when the men’s recurve team, led by Jayanta Talukdar, won the 2010 Archery World Cup Stage IV in Shanghai. Talukdar returned with an individual bronze as well, and teenager Deepika Kumari grabbed a silver in her debut World Cup appearance. Kumari is now the second Indian woman to make it to the World Cup final, which will be held in Edinburgh on 18-19 September. Dola Banerjee, who is the leading Indian contender at the Commonwealth Games, had won the World Cup final in 2007.
