Earlier the Mumbai squad without their star player and captain Sachin Tendulkar made 165 for 6 in 20 overs.

The hosts lost wickets regularly after stand-in captain Harbhajan Singh chose to bat first on winning the toss and their total was built mainly around opener Sanath Jayasuriya (29), top-scorer Robin Uthappa (48) and Pollock.
