Satyamev Jayate which was aired on Star Plus will receive government recognition for being television’s most influential show. On Thursday, Uday Shankar, chief executive of Star India Pvt. Ltd, which owns a network of channels, and Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who produced and hosted the show, will be honoured by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes in recognition of their efforts to create awareness against social discrimination through Satyamev Jayate.
“Satyamev Jayate was a natural evolution of content, given Star’s steadfast and widening focus on socially relevant issues. This recognition will spur us to advance in this path of leveraging the power of TV to act as a change agent,” said Shankar of Star India.
The reality chat-based show showcased real stories from across India during its 13-week run which started on 6 May. During its air time, Satyamev Jayate was the most talked-about show on social media platforms.
