Dravid notwitstanding, Royal Challengers fail to make the cut
New Delhi: Rahul Dravid’s classy 66 runs that included nine fours and one six could not help Bangalore’s Royal Challengers to put out a score that could prove to be a challange for Team Mohali. With a 126-run target, the men from Punjab came, played and conquered the field in 18.2 overs. 62f85356-1b33-11dd-af04-000b5dabf613.flv
Yuvraj Singh, skipper of Kings XI, won the toss and put the Royal Challengers’ boys on to bat at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. A good decision, for the track at the stadium was not likely to favour the team that was to bat. The wickets fell in quick succession and Dravid, ‘the Wall’s’ sturdy innings of 66 runs could not help the team notch up a good enough score for the opponents to chase.
Team Mohali overcame the loss of their first wicket off S. Sreesanth but recovered soon enough by the time Ramnaresh Sarwan came in, scoring 31 runs with five fours and one six. Zaheer Khan and Praveen Kumar’s bowling was not good enough to hold the match together. The low score was quickly outbeaten in less than 19 overs.
Kings XI now has 20 points from seven matches while Royal Challengers lag behind with a score of four from seven outings.
