San Francisco: Twitter Inc. is experimenting with putting images above text in tweets, as the company tries new ways to get people hooked to the site.
Twitter has been tweaking its design to highlight more visually interesting content, in a bid to keep users visiting and engaging with the site. Twitter, which originally offered users only 140 characters of text to express themselves, redesigned to enable images to show up in user feeds within tweets starting in late 2013. The San Francisco-based company this year added an option for people to take and edit videos via the Twitter application.
Twitter has been working to speed up its product development process to help reignite its growth, which at 288 million monthly users has been slower than analysts expected since a November 2013 initial public offering. A Twitter spokeswoman confirmed the new format is a test for the site. Bloomberg
