Ogilvy & Mather (India) Ltd has just announced expansion plans for Meridian Communications Pvt Ltd, its full-service agency. Launched a year ago, the Bangalore-based agency will soon have offices in Mumbai and Delhi, enabling them to service clients with a national presence.
Two key appointments have also been announced: Rensil D’silva, formerly with Mudra DDB and O&M in senior creative positions, is now executive creative director. And Kumar Subramaniam, who was seven years with O&M and was president of Brand David for the last year and a half, is the president of Meridian. N. Ramesh will continue to be executive creative director based out of Bangalore.
It was also announced that Meridian would be handling INX Media’s creative duties, a prestigious addition to its portfolio. “The Ogilvy Group sees more opportunities for an agency with Ogilvy values and thinking. Clearly growth opportunities exist, as a result of which there is a need to expand quickly. The expansion also provides an opportunity for a larger bank of clients to work with Ogilvy. Currently Meridian is a mid-strength operation,’’ says Piyush Pandey, executive chairman and national creative director O&M (India & South Asia). ”
The expanded Meridian is expected to service accounts that conflict with mother agency O&M. It is expected to step into the vacuum left after Brand David, the erstwhile second agency of O&M, was merged into the Bates India network
“Neither Meridian nor David were ever designed to be conflict agencies. They were launched with the intention of delivering Ogilvy values, thinking and creative to a larger spectrum of clients who wanted it. However, this is the natural fallout of having another creative brand within the company,” says Madhukar Sabnavis, country head-Discovery & Planning, Ogilvy & Mather (India) Ltd.
“If it helps us resolve a conflict situation then we will do it,” says Rensil D’silva. They will tap the specialised communications units of O&M India for activation, digital, PR etc to offer full-service solutions, he adds.
Meridian Communication Pvt Ltd has clients such as Axis Bank Ltd, Radio City FM – Music Broadcast Pvt Ltd, TTK Healthcare Services Pvt Ltd, The Himalaya Drug Company, Arvind Mills LTd, Levi Strauss (India) Pvt Ltd, Mantri Developers Pvt Ltd, Bias Communication (P) Ltd. and INX Media Pvt Ltd.
