New Delhi: Well known wildlife and conservationist film maker Mike Pandey, who has earlier received the Green Oscars thrice, adds another feather to his cap. His programme ‘Earth Matters’ on Doordarshan received the first “Golden Giraffe for conservation ”at the International Wildlife Film Festival in Albert, France, for spreading awareness about conservation through visual media.
The award recognizes the difference his work has made by sensitizing people to issues relating to vanishing species and depleting natural resources. Earlier this year, Mike received the highest and most prestigious wildlife honour in the country when he received the President’s ‘Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife and Environmental Conservation Award’.
‘Timeless Traveler – the horseshoe crab’ won two prestigious international awards at the Albert Festival in 2005: the ‘Best Film for Protection of Wildlife’ and the ‘Best Film for Protection of Marine Life’. Considered to be a significant scientific breakthrough that had the potential of making a valuable contribution to medical history, it was filmed by a team of young film makers, Gautam Pandey, Arjun Pandey and Doel Trivedy and produced by Mike’s production house.
Under the banner of Riverbank Studios Mike has created popular programmes like Earth Matters and Khullam Khulla.
